BAHAMAS CAT CHARTERS
COME PLAY WITH US!
Freebird and Rubicon are sailing catamarans with a captain and crew living fulltime aboard. Capt. Peter and Tina Dreffin of Freebird have
lived aboard boats and cruised the Exumas for three decades. They reared two sons aboard, sailing around the world when the boys
became teenagers. Their son, Adam Dreffin, currently charters Rubicon. Itís no wonder a lifetime of adventuring
in the Bahamas has turned Freebird and Rubicon into the most interesting catamarans in the Exumas and Out Islands for the budget-minded!
Freebirdand Rubicon cats offer: snorkeling, spear-fishing, remote island cruising, twin kayak expeditions, island cave explorations,
beach combing, trail hiking, boogie boarding, drift-diving, swimming with dolphins, shark observation, swimming with pigs, and
conch hunting. An underwater video camera will document your stories, simply because your family and friends
back home won't believe you! As a parting gift, a digital copy of your dream vacation is provided as a free download.
sail from Georgetown, Great Exuma, sailing north into the Exuma island chain. There, you will experience tranquil anchorages
with a plethora of fascinating activities to do. Jump right in, or sit back and let the international chef ply your palette
with tasty cuisine while you take in the panoramic views. This is the ultimate cruise of a lifetime, hands down.
Because the Exuma cays are remote, cruise ships do not operate here, so no crowds! We are your floating palace above tranquil
waters, ready to spoil you.
The heavens above dropped a pearl necklace into turquoise waters and createe the Exuma Cays. They sweep in an almost unbroken exquisite chain, creating the best sailing grounds in the western hemisphere. Harbors are protected; anchorages, pristinel. Quaint settlements are picturesque and the people, simply delightful.
Aboard our cats, look below the surface to find stunning coral formations bursting with brilliant-colored exotic fish that dart in and out like little children at play. Lie across a floating mattress to view the world below with a mask and snorkel for hours while being entertained by sea residents. A leopard stingray may glide by followed by a hawksbill turtle, or Nikki the resident dolphin.
Fishing is excellent. When sailing, a line is trolled behind the boats to catch our dinner for the nightly grill: mahi-mahi or tuna. Drop a line over the side at night in the anchorage, and you'll be delighted to land a snapper. If spearfishing is your game, you've found the experts. We'll teach you how to free-dive for lobsters, conch and grouper.
There's a collection of islands beyond the Exuma Cays that are more remote. The Bahamians are even more friendly due to the low volume of tourists to their island. Each island offers something different than any other island, unique to it's own. There's more sealife, more of everything. In the Out Island beyond the Exuma Cays, especially further south, you may see a Haitian sloop slowly meandering along, plying its trade.
In the Out Islands beyond the Exumas, time has stood still. Ruins from Loyalist times can still be seen as evidence of the first American colonists. Generation after generation of Bahamians continue to thrive in the Outer Islands making them unique and interesting. A grandmother will pause with you in the street to relay how she had to walk to get water for her family from a well before taking the sand path to school. The diving, snorkeling, swimming, sailing, fishing, beachcombing and kayaking is just as great as in the Exumas, and yet more distant, quiet, exquisite and in greater numbers in sealife.
Charter our liveaboard catamarans to see these unique islands where time has stood still. It is rare to see another charter boat in the Outer Islands beyond the Exumas, so you can be guaranteed the trip of a lifetime!
